For the next couple of days, I'm doing something for me. I'm not promoting any books. I'm attending a #NasaSocial Event.
I'm so excited to meet everyone that is attending, but mostly I'm excited to go behind the scenes of NASA and view a launch.
A few moments ago, I got off the phone with a marketing team I use. They said they didn't want to hurt my feelings, but how was this going to help me sale my books, which are mostly historical romances?
This isn't about selling books. It's about catching a glimpse of a dream.
Space exploration fills the imagination. Some say space is the hope for the future of mankind. I believe space in an infinite adventure. So many possibilities...
I won't ever go into space, take a space walk, or walk on the moon. But space and space travel fascinates me and lures me with the its infinite possibilities.
Yesterday, I enjoyed a behind the scenes look of Kennedy Space Center. I got to see Cimon, the AI that will be used on the International Space Station. (Quick note- it was my fav! It follows you around. I can just see it now in our homes. It will be like having your computer follow you around your home.) Another awesome technology was the ability to monitor the temperature of the planet. It will help our crops.
We got to visit the Vehicle Assembly Building. First word out of my mouth- WOW! Then, we toured the flame trench where Space X rocket would be launched. To top off the adventure, we got to go into Swamp Works and Veggie Lab. Swamp Works was absolutely riveting with what the robots and three-D printing. Their ability to troubleshoot and recycle was amazing. What they can make out of nothing! They made me feel guilty about what I throw out for garbage.
Great day, but this morning was...what word could I use...AWESOME!!! The launch was beyond my expectations. I urge anyone that hasn't seen a launch to see one in your life time.
My day is not done. I'm about to leave for Atlantis. I once more become an ordinary person, but I have never been. I'm told its a great take.
I also have to bring back my grandson a souvenir. I have something in mind. A spacesuit. Then his imagination can really play space in the backyard. He can travel in style to the moon along with his Moon Dog and Sun Dog.
No matter our age, we should hold to our dreams.
Next week, I will return to promoting books.
Today...today I'm enjoying my visit to NASA!
